What is TripSafe Student?

TripSafe Student is an offering of our Global Assistance Package with Travel Insurance, designed for students, studying abroad that provides financial protection against emergencies, medical expenses, travel disruptions, and lost belongings.



What are the various TripSafe Student packages on offer right now?

TripSafe is presently offered in three distinct plans:

· Student Silver – $50,000 policy with ABHI (40 covers), Across Assist with 12 services and Baggage Protection Service

· Student Gold – $100,000 policy with ABHI (40 covers), Across Assist with 12 services and Baggage Protection Service

· Platinum – $250,000 policy with ABHI (40 covers), Across Assist with 12 services and Baggage Protection Service

Does TripSafe Student pricing vary based on age?

Pricing for TripSafe Student varies with the age of the traveller, and covers travellers between 18 and 45 years of age. 

Can TripSafe Student be given to someone who is not an Indian citizen?

No. TripSafe Student can only be availed by Indian citizens or individuals who hold an OCI card.

Can we issue TripSafe Student with only provisional admission or offer letters?

Yes. TripSafe Student can be issued to a student traveling for education, even with a provisional admission or offer letter. However, at the time of any claim, the insurer will verify all the necessary documents.

Can we issue policies for students who are on short-term exchange programs (3–6 months)?

The minimum tenure for the TripSafe Student Plan is 1 month.

If the student transfers to a country with higher healthcare costs (e.g., from Germany to the US), can the sum insured be upgraded mid-term?

No. The student can cancel the policy and get a new policy issued for the new destination.

What are the benefits of the TripSafe Student plan?

TripSafe Student is a specialized plan for students studying abroad that provides financial protection against emergencies, medical expenses, travel disruptions, and lost belongings. The plan provides essential medical and travel–baggage cover plus 24/7 assistance. It also covers important features as Study Interruption, Sponsor Protection, Compassionate visit travel expenses, Political Risk and Catastrophe Evacuation and a lot more.

 


What does Treatment of Mental & Nervous Disorder mean?

Treatment of Mental & Nervous Disorder includes out-patient treatment for mental or nervous disorders, as long as it’s a new condition and not something that existed before the policy started.

What does Cancer screening & Mammography mean?

Cancer screening & Mammography covers out-patient cancer screening or mammography during the trip, if advised by a doctor.

What does Non-emergency OPD consultation mean?

Non-emergency OPD consultation covers non-emergency medical consultations during the trip, if advised by a doctor.

What does Psychological and Mental Counselling cover?

This covers psychological or mental counselling after diagnosis by a specialist, if medically necessary, not requiring hospitalization, and not linked to pre-existing conditions.

What does Quarantine Cover?

Quarantine expenses are covered if the quarantine is medically advised and supported by a doctor’s certificate, along with valid bills, travel tickets, and in accordance with the regulations of the respective country.

What does Radiotherapy and Chemotherapy Charges cover?

Radiotherapy and Chemotherapy Charges cover the cost of radiotherapy or chemotherapy undertaken during the trip, provided it is prescribed by a qualified doctor.

What does Sports injuries mean?

Sports Injuries cover any injury sustained while participating in a listed adventure or professional sport. In case of hospitalization, medical expenses are covered provided the activity was declared before policy inception, conducted under approved safety guidelines, and the treatment is certified by a doctor.

What does Pre existing coverage in case of Life Threatening Situation mean?

Pre-existing disease (PED) means a medical condition that was diagnosed before purchasing this policy. In this policy, PED is covered in a life-threatening situation which refers to any circumstance where an individual's life is at immediate risk due to severe injury, illness, or a dangerous event, requiring urgent medical intervention to prevent death or serious harm.

Is an Ambulance ride to the hospital covered?

Yes. In a medical emergency, the cost of a surface ambulance to get one to the nearest hospital or physician is covered.

Are Flu shots or vaccinations covered?

The policy does not cover the cost of preventative vaccinations needed during the trip. However, it does cover emergency shots needed after an exposure, like a rabies shot after an animal bite.

What does Personal Liability mean?

Personal Liability in international travel insurance provides coverage against legal and financial liabilities arising if you accidentally cause injury to another person or damage to their property while traveling abroad.

What is covered under Study Interruption?

Study Interruption cover helps refund any non-refundable tuition fees if the student can’t continue studies due to hospitalization (30+ days), medical evacuation, or the death of an immediate family member.

What does Sponsor Protection mean?

Sponsor Protection covers any remaining tuition fees if the sponsor passes away due to an accident, provided the student continues their studies at the same institute.

What is covered under Drug and Alcohol abuse?

Drug and Alcohol abuse cover pays medical expenses if the student is hospitalized during the trip for treatment of conditions caused by alcohol or drug use, if it’s doctor-certified and medically necessary.

What is covered under Debit / Credit Card / Forex Card – Fraud?

Card Fraud cover reimburses financial loss if the debit, credit, or forex card is lost or stolen during a trip and used fraudulently.

What does Emergency Cash Advance mean?

Cash Advance provides quick financial help during a trip if the student faces an emergency, supported by a police report or FIR.

What does Home Care Cover mean?

Home Care Cover pays for a qualified nurse at home after hospital discharge if the illness or injury requires it.

What does Loss of Laptop / Tablet / Gadget cover?

Gadget Loss cover reimburses any lost laptop, tablet, or other specified devices if stolen, supported by a police FIR and list of lost items. Accessories are not covered.

What does Political Risk and Catastrophe Evacuation mean?

Political Risk and Catastrophe Evacuation covers any travel or hotel costs if the student must leave the city due to government warnings or disasters like floods, earthquakes, or epidemics.

What does University Insolvency mean?

University Insolvency reimburses any travel or hotel costs to return to India if the university closes or loses recognition.

What does Extended Cover in the Country of Residence mean?

Extended Cover in the Country of Residence pays for hospitalization and return travel costs after the trip if any treatment is needed for the same illness or injury covered during the trip.

Trip Cancellation & Trip Delay are a part of the coverage; will this cover any flight delays only the first time the student is going abroad or the next times also?

It will be covered for all trips between the policy duration. It can be claimed till the Sum Insured is exhausted or the policy expires, whichever is earlier.

Purchase & Issuance

Can TripSafe Student be issued with only provisional admission/offer letters (before final enrolment)?

Yes. TripSafe Student can be offered to a student traveling abroad for education purposes, the Admission or Offer letter is not needed for the same.

Can TripSafe Student be issued without a passport?

Passport no. is mandatory to issue TripSafe Student.

Can TripSafe Student be issued if the student’s visa is still under process?

Yes. TripSafe Student can be issued if the student’s visa is still under process.
